Steel First-aid Championships
The
first aid championships were held on the Saturday of the Junior
Championships and many commented on the demonstration spectacle
it provided. Competition was dominated by the teams from Windang
SLSC but many clubs after seeing what first-aid competition
involves are keen to compete next year.

Picture
above shows the U16 silver medalists Emily Harrision &
Ebony Ausin-Hajwan treating the victim of a nasty skateboard
accident. Below the Windang team of Laura Scott & Kimberley
Harvey wrap up the patient and the U16 gold medal.

The
U19 competition was excellent with the Windang Teams of Kimberley
Harvey / Laura Scott & Amanda Scott / Lori Hutchinson
equal first place for the Gold Medal. U19 Gold medalists pictured
below.

The
U19 of Lori Hutchinson and Amanda Scott pictured below excelled
themselves to go on and win silver in the open competition.

I
was privileged to assist in the judging of the competition
and am committed to see First-aid, Patrol and Champion Lifesaver
competition developed in the Illawarra.

Kaye
Norris and Kerrie Cuthbert on the right above won gold in
the open first aid competition and are pictured here with
Windang's U16 & U19 first-aid winners.

Telstra State Junior Championships
Shellharbour
SLSC hosted the 2004 Telstra Junior Championships. After the
postponement of events due to massive seas on the Friday the
competition resumed on the Saturday at beaches from North
Warrilla to South Shellharbour.
The
highlight for me was to be on the beach this morning for the
announcement of the Junior Life Savers of the Year. Illawarra's
Emily Costello from Sandon Point SLSC was named runner up
in the girls section with a highly commended salutation. Congratulations
Emily !!
