Duty of care

Clubs, services and you as a Lifeguard/Lifesaver have a duty of care while on the beach. This duty of care is not only to you but to others.

beachgoers

View the duty of care statement from Legal Aid Queensland and reflect on the following questions:

  1. In your role what is your Duty of Care to the public and team members?
  2. How do you go about applying this duty of care?
  3. What challenges do you face while applying your Duty of Care?
Take this worksheet and discuss these questions with experienced patrol captains, senior members of your club and relevant people at your branch or state office. Then use it to record what you have learnt and believe. Send it to your facilitator and place a copy in your folder.
