Smiling man with collared shirt and short brown hairWelcome to Module 1

Hi, I'm David. I manage the Australian Lifesaving Academy campus at Sigh Bar Bay.

You have enrolled with us to complete the first module of your Beach Management Course. While you are working on it, you will be helping us to manage our beach at Sigh Bar Bay.

In this first Module, the most important person in the Bay for you to know is our Lifeguard Supervisor. He has a lot of the resources that you will need to complete your tasks. You will also need to call upon your own club and branch for help. Your Club Captain, some of the Patrol Captains and the Administrators will be able to help you with information, advice and the location of various documents and resources that you will need.

To get started:

  1. Read through the introduction, aims, prerequisites etc in this section to find out more information about this module.
  2. Create a new folder in your My Documents Folder and name it "BM_progress_log". You will save any tasks and worksheets in here.
  3. Get a manila folder or ring binder and label it Progress Log. You will keep hard copies of any documents and worksheets in here and hand it in at the end of the course as proof of completion.
  4. Explore the Bay by clicking on the "Sigh Bar Bay" icon at the top left of your screen. This area has some fairly difficult management issues. It's important that you understand the area and what can happen on Sigh Bar Beach if we aren't very careful and super vigilant.
  5. Explore the other facilities at Sigh Bar Bay by clicking on the room icons in the menu at the top of the page.
  6. Click on the "Topic 1" icon in the menu at the top of the page to get started with the Learning Materials for this Module.
